Where were you when the collective hearts of terps fans was shattered?
I don't care much for the Terps, nor am I or was I under the delusion that they were an elite team. Yes, people had high hopes since Kansas was out... but I still realistic and expected the Terps to fail, as they always have in recent memory. I was at a driving range... enjoying the awesome weather, and as I walk into the club house to get a drink, I see the last dagger shot, and I crack up laughing... Only because earlier at my church, everyone was talking about final four and what not... I got so many dirty looks. Anyways, my condolences Terps.

Is our world getting better or worse?
I'm just reading some news and it started me a thinking.... We, as human beings, are supposedly getting smarter... adapting... evolving... The reason why I say supposedly is because it seems like now, more than ever, do I hear about stories where people are so dumb that you don't understand how someone can be so dumb at this day in age. Example: Why a school principal would think that it would be "ok" to publicly post the students who got an "F" on the internet? I mean, I would think that any principal would know that roles and responsibilities of their job, as I do, as any person who has ever held a job knows. And there is a large difference between doing something stupid by mistake, and doing something stupid while you have convinced yourself or blindly believe that the idea is a smart one. And you see this everywhere! However, this is not the only degeneration occurring.
More and more we find that not only is the number of perverts, crazies, wackos, and weirdos increasing, but they are seemingly getting more and more depraved... on top of that, some of the worst are people who hold positions of power...
It just seems that no matter where I look, I see the world getting worse and worse on the individual level... immorality, bad ethics, stupidity, depravity... and all the while, we take a few people's progress and spread it across millions, giving us the illusion of improving as a whole. In effect, a small group actually improves while the rest drag each other down, fighting for the "dribblings" of wealth from that small group, whether it be intellectual or financial, where it is in then "dribbled" down, rinse and repeat. The channels that facilitate these "dribbling"s are not efficient or do not possess the best-for-everyone-overall mentality, causing the resource pool of wealth to grow smaller and smaller at each consecutive level to draw from. Sigh.
I'll come back and talk sports in a bit...

Random
I dont have much time to write, so Ill just throw in some random thoughts real quick on a variety of topics. First off Tiger Woods coming back in April for the Masters. Thank God, he needs to come back and he needs to start winning again. Im not going to say that he will win his first tournament back, let alone a major, but I will say that I think this could be very strategic on his part. First off, there are only about 15 people in the world that can beat Tiger in general, let alone Augusta. Since the Masters is by invitation only, he doesnt have to beat a field of 120. Also since the Masters is private, there will no distractions from the media interrogating Tiger about his extra marital affairs. Im sure it will be on his mind and eventually he will talk about it, but at least here he can try to think about golf and not about the 20 women or Elin hitting him with a 9 iron. I dont think he will win, but if he does I dont think words can describe it. Maybe better than the US Open win with 1 leg? Tiger owns Augusta, and if he can make the cut, watch out for him on the weekend, I say top 10 finish no matter what.
Ovie still shouldnt have been suspended even if the NHL wants to make an example of him. Cooke from the Penguins didnt get jack shit and basically knocked the guy out with a grade 2 concussion that could have ended his career. But Campbell says oh well he didnt leave his feet, it was a clean hit. Cooke is one of the dirtiest if not the dirtiest player in the NHL. Look at all his past videos of hurting players deliberately, no one can say that oh he didnt mean to do that, yet the NHL allows this to regularly happen. I think its more because its the Penguins and they are the "face" of the NHL when in reality they can go fuck themselves. I hate Pittsburgh and everything about them. Whats good now in Pittsburgh? Oh yea, a rapist I forgot. The NHL will only lose out in this battle giving everything they can to Pitt and frowning upon the Caps. Your only going to piss Ovie off more and he will dismantle you when he plays against you so keep suspending him, and when he knocks Crosby out with a clean hit.. we will see whose laughing then.
Did anyone see the clip with Agassi and Sampras at the charity event? Kinda funny... hehe

Inconsistency
It's the inconsistency between punishments and rulings that make me really hate league/sport administrators. I hate that player's status will affect the punishment they receive, sometimes it helps, and sometimes it doesn't. For example...
In Ovie's case, it did not help. They wanted to use him as an example, trying to send the message that no matter who you are, they won't condone anything remotely close to what the rule was specifically created for. And yes, I agree that Ovie did nothing wrong, but at the same time, it was dangerous and as a result they make that correlation between what Ovie did and what the rule was supposedly created for. For hockey, it's harder than most other sports, because of not only the stigma it comes with, but also who the fan base is made up of, and the history that the sport is built upon. Fights and hard board checks are what people go to hockey games for. That's why people say that a hockey game's atmosphere is probably the best out of all sports, cause of the intensity, and the fact that at any moment, someone can drop their gloves and knock-someone-the-fuck-out. So I'll give the NHL more leeway than others...
In the recent NASCAR situation, Carl Edwards got into an accident with another drive... non-intentional... went to the pit, got his car fixed, and got back on the track. Once back on the track tho, he sought out the driver that was involved in the earlier accident... the other driver was in contention also... in the top 10... and then he maliciously caused the other driver's car to go airborne, into the safety grandstand fence, and then lands upside down. Now, don't get me wrong, accidents happen all the time in NASCAR, which again, is the big reason/draw to watching a lame ass race. But this is extremely dangerous. People's lives are on the line... and not just the athletes, because they know the risks they take, but fans could have been killed or horribly injured. But all he gets is a slap on the wrist because, NASCAR can't afford to have one of it's bigger stars suspended for the season. And it's not even that he intentionally caused the accident, but it wasn't while trying to win, since he had no chance of winning, and it wasn't based off of anything that the other person did wrong, as replays clearly show that the first accident was Edwards' fault.
So shit like that just pisses me off. It's like the age old legal conundrum, why the punishment for 1 gram of crack is 10 times worse than the punishment for 1 gram of coke, even though crack is made from coke. Inconsistencies and the fact that these rules set by the leagues, tho they are suppose to be enforced equally, are enforced "subjectively" and for the best interest of said league. Just as the severity of crack punishment laws can be traced back to racial roots. I won't elaborate, but it's not hard to find the correlation between the involved parties in the two difference situations.
One of the biggest inconsistency that comes to mind is the whole Pete Rose and McGwire argument, which was made in January and Vince's Response.
Other things on my mind I want to touch on when I have more time...

Campbell likes fairies
Id first like to say how the NHL is starting to become more and more of a pussy league. They want to allow fist fighting but when it comes to a "push" and the guy gets hurt because he cant skate correctly and falls into the boards to end up missing the rest of the season, I guess that calls for a suspension. You cant have it both ways. Yes, I am talking about Colin Campbell, the NHL's disciplinary chairmen and his stance on suspending Ovie for 2 games. They call him a repeat offender.. he did nothing wrong. He pushed the guy trying to finish a check and the defender got hurt. Ovie is too big, too talented, too "Russian" for the NHL and sadly they are ruining the biggest name star of this game. Crosby is too much of a girl to start checking and being physical, but they want this to be some ice skating show and not have any physicality in the game. Why dont you just give the Cup to the Penguins and there gay ass fan base. Go Russia, Go Caps, enough said.

Tiger's Return
I wouldn't say I'm an avid golf fan... But I will watch 3 hours of grass-growing when Tiger is playing. He's probably the reason why most non-fans of golf will actually sit down and watch cause it's greatness in action.
The issues he's had off the the golf course is definitely a fall from grace. Tiger tumbled from God-like status to a down-and-out sympathy seeker. But seriously though, I would venture to say that 50% of all pro athletes have extra marital affairs. That's just my guess. It maybe blown out of proportion just because of all the stories you hear on the news.
He needs to get back to work and I want to watch.

Quick Response to Homer
"Homer - I just wanna say that... I love your show. I listen all the time and... I love you guys. I just wanna say
that the skins should keep Campbell for another year and let him develop under a competent coach.
The FA quarterbacks this year aren't great and really not worth trading picks. We should at least wait
out on Philly's Kevin Kolb when they realise no one's gonna give up a first rounder. And yes. OT with
the number 4 pick!"
I forgot to address that topic... Campbell is not a bad quarterback. BUT, he has not yet shown that he is a good one either. I feel like they should keep Campbell, don't go after Bradford or Claussen, but rather try to get a QB in a later round to groom, work with, and take a gamble on. I honestly believe, that Tebow has a chance to be something special in the NFL. Not necessarily at QB, but when you take into consideration his accomplishments and his work ethic, it would lead one to believe that he can change his throwing mechanics enough to compete in the NFL. I do agree that the college version of him dominated, but that will not transfer over to the pros. If he can make some small changes, he can do well. He's a winner and that's not something you can teach... but then again, that's what they said about Campbell. Vince Young is an example of someone in college who did well and whose game doesn't necessarily fit the NFL mold, but is still somehow making it working for them and their team... or maybe it was because he had a 2000+ yard rusher. Either way, I think that Tebow definitely has a chance to be a good QB, and if not, at the very least, a good football player. But Tebow isn't the only non-first round QB that has talent and could be viewed as a project. So, maybe that should be the route we take... keep Campbell, let him work with Shanahan and see if we can be made into an Elway-esk QB. Or atleast give him the chance to be evaluated by Shanahan and judgment passed on how he tries to run his system, rather than his body of work where he has had different coaches, systems, and coordinators.
As for Kevin Kolb... I had him on my franchise team in madden... i hate him... That aside, he's not necessarily that great either. He has a stacked offensive team, where he doesn't need to make plays so much as get the ball into the hands of playmakers. So I veto Kolb.

State of Affairs...
Today's topic... Redskins.
First I'd like to start with how annoyed I am of a lot of the sports writers' comments and opinions... and it's not that I don't think that they should have their opinion, but why do they have to be so damn cliche? And here's what I mean:
"Redskins Fans aren't use to what their seeing from the usually free-spending franchise."
I know that last season and seasons in the past, Redskins have made big moves and have spent a lot of money, and at the same time, there have off-seasons (even recent ones), where the Redskins have not spent a lot of money. Take for example, the off-season before last, the one before the signing of Haynesworth. That was a very low key off-season for us as well. All I'm saying is, that I'm tired of reading the same cliche phrases. It's like they all have a database that they pull their supposedly whimsical banter from. And the skill to create such alleged banter is the premise to why they are a sports writers, different from us average sports fans, is it not?
Released:
Randy Thomas, G - I'm not sure how much money he would be making this year, but if it wasn't high, I would have considered keeping him around for two reasons: so that we aren't in a horrible corner or lose negotiating powers without having another G on the roster, and as a back-up (since our O-line is so thin as it is, veteran back-ups are not a bad idea).
Cornelius Griffin, DT - This is understandable, since they are probably going to switch to a 3-4 defense, and Cornelius is not young and he isn't able to eat-up 2 blocks.
Antwaan Randle El, WR/PR - Thank goodness this guy is gone. GTFO and stay out.
Rock Cartwright, KR/RB - Rock wasn't a bad KR, but he wasn't a good one. All Rock did was run forward and thru people. If he couldn't run thru you... well he's got nothing else.
Fred Smoot, CB - I'm somewhat on the fence on this one. Let's not consider his contract for now, let's weigh everything else. Fred Smoot is a decent #2 CB and a pretty good nickel/#3CB. Now that being said, for his skill set, it wouldn't have been bad to keep him, to play either of those roles, in case of injury or what not. I know that Smoot is no spring chick, but he can definitely help out in those roles for atleast 1 more year. And who really trusts Carlos Rogers?*
Ladell Betts, RB - Betts wasn't a bad RB, he just wasn't a good one.
Todd Collins, QB - He's old, but who else do we have as a back-up?
Marcus Mason, RB - He played well when he had a chance to. I'm not sure I would have let him go if I just let go 2 vet RBs.
Eddie Williams, FB - We have to start thinking about life after Mike Sellers, or preparing for his years to catch up to him. Maybe should have kept this one around too.
J.D. Skolnitsky, DE - Who are you? Go away.
*And to Carlos Rogers. Apparently, you are upset that they put a tender on you as a restricted free agent. UPSET?!?! Really?! I'm upset that you suck. I'm upset that we wasted a high draft pick on you. I'm upset that you can't catch a ball when it hits you in your chest. I'm upset that you will and can never be a #1 CB. I'm upset that I have you on my team and not someone, anyone, from the first round of your draft class. So until you start displaying some semblence of skill, STFU.
Resigned:
Phillip Daniels, DE - I like this, he could definitely be in the rotation in a 3-4. Powerlifter... I like it.
Mike Williams, OL - We need some O-line on the roster, can't draft every O-line position. He's an interesting story though. 4th overall pick, obscenely obese, fall from grace, and now a second chance. Does he realize his potential that he once displayed?
Casey Rabach, C - Solid guy, he's also getting up in age, so we'll have to think about an understudy, but definitely good for the short term.
Lorenzo Alexander, DL/LB/OL - I like his versatility. Definitely an asset to have. Especially now that he's being moved to LB, a position we are a bit thin in to run a 3-4 defense.
Signed:
Artis Hicks, G - I like this move. Trying to improve the O-line.
Maake Kemoeatu, NT - Big guy, hopefully he can come back from his injury and help make our D-line dominant.
Sean Ryan, TE - Not sure about this one... is it for special teams? Is it a precursor to Cooley or Davis getting traded? We sure do have a lot of TEs
I've probably missed a person here or there but whatever.
I was a bit surprised about some of our activities or lack thereof. I think that we should have pursued some people, such as Peppers (tho i understand why we didn't), Daunta Robinson or some other good CB, offensive lineman, and linebackers. I thought we would be more involved in pursuing players of high caliber in those positions. I hope that Shanahan has a plan.
Here's a few things I've been thinking about in relation to the draft:
If Bradford is taken first, and either Eric Berry or one of the DTs fall to us, do we take them?
This I think might be the most ideal situation for us. Because, it's almost a win-win. Having one of those 3 fall to us gives us a lot of power. Many teams would love to have a shot at landing any of those 3 players. We could trade the pick with a team that has two 1st rounders or we could swap it with a lower first rounder and take their 2nd rounder. And if no one wants to trade up, taking any of those players would help out the team, tho maybe not a need, but would help set the position for years to come, especially Eric Berry. I personally would love to have Eric Berry on the team, for all the comparisons he draws, it makes me want to have an elite safety on my team again, RIP Sean Taylor. That being said, trading down would probably be the best. If we trade down and acquire another pick, we could get an OT, this draft class isn't necessarily deep in that position, but they do have a lot of OTs with a lot of talent... As well as address other holes, such as the LB situation, or we can even draft another safety, as this draft class also has a lot of talented safetys in the first round. McClain would be a very good addition as well.
If not, who do we draft at 4?
If all goes as it is suppose to, I would suggest taking the best OT here. It meets the biggest need, and should be the player with the highest value that does not have certain question marks. Bradford - Will he be able to come back from his injury and improve? Claussen is a reach here, so OT is probably the right pick. But I really hope to trade this pick to acquire more. That's the dream.
Questions:
What will happen to Andre Carter, will he do well in a 3-4? Is he going to play LB or DE?
There will be more to come, but please, let me know what you think. Any ideas you might have or opinions that aren't cliche that you'd like to share.

Is it just me?
Or do you find this equally as retarded as I do... Rick needs to shut up
I don't care what the ranking was... when Wake Forest beat UNC... I mean... the eventual NCAA CHAMPIONS... yes I'll say it again... Champions!!! you have a right to storm the court. Besides... they are UNC, one of the most winningest programs in the country... you don't want to celebrate?
I hate when old people try to ruin the joy of youth by telling them what isn't appropriate... i bet 10 to 1 odds... if he was still in college, and they beat UNC, he would have been one of the first to storm the court. So Rick... STFU.
P.S. You are not funny Rick...

I hate when old people try to ruin the joy of youth by telling them what isn't appropriate... i bet 10 to 1 odds... if he was still in college, and they beat UNC, he would have been one of the first to storm the court. So Rick... STFU.

Donkey....
Doc Rivers is officially a donkey... as you have seen from recent posts, I hate hypocrites like him:
(this is in relation to the Cavs trade for Jaimison and how Ilwghawgihw-whatever-his-name is going to resign with the Cavs after he buys out his contract from the Wizzies....)
(this is in relation to the Cavs trade for Jaimison and how Ilwghawgihw-whatever-his-name is going to resign with the Cavs after he buys out his contract from the Wizzies....)
Rivers agreed with Jackson, even though the loophole has helped his team in the past.
"I have a problem with that," Rivers said before Thursday's Lakers-Celtics game at Staples Center. "I loved it three years ago when we did it with Gary Payton if you remember, but now I think it sucks. I think it's a terrible deal."
Rivers and the Celtics traded Payton to Atlanta in March 2005 for Antoine Walker and Payton returned to Boston after being waived by the Hawks.
"I actually do have a problem with that though. We did it, and I'm joking, but I do think [it's a problem]. I don't know what you do [maybe] just not allow them to go back to the same team or whatever. ... I do think that will be changed eventually, but I do have a problem with it."
So is it just me or is that incredibly hypocritical? I mean, you are a freaking grade-A jackass. How can you even make a statement like that? "I loved it three years ago when we did it with Gary Payton... but now I think it sucks..." I wish that someone would just run up to Doc Rivers and drop kick him in the face. Doc Rivers, you sir, are a douche.

Going South... fast
Uhhh, Maryland is considered part of the south... But let's forget about that, I understand that Maryland is a better state, however, as much as virginia is ill-equipped to handle the snow, so is Maryland... more in relation to volume. After the December snow, the money allotted for snow-removal was already used up in both states. And the federal gov't closing, affects Maryland just as much as Virginia. Just because individual counties handle their own respective snow removal services... that did not stop the maryland state gov't calling in snow removal crews from other states to help. I'm just angry that this was even an option. They pompously call themselves a commonwealth, and yet they don't exercise and tightly hold on to the sovereignty that is implied with the title. They should handle this crap themselves without looking to the federal gov't who they want to distance themselves from, so their name suggests. Maryland hasn't gotten on it's knees, so why is it that Virginia has to? Or maybe, it's Obama who is on his knees....
As for Tiger, I think that people are blowing this all out of proportion. Yes, his moral character is being called into question. Yes, cheating on his wife, and the things that he did was immoral. Yes, some could even categorize him as a horrible person (though i'm reluctant to do so solely on the grounds of charity and other things that he has done and accomplished not for selfish gain but for the unpriviledged.) All those things being said... he is currently the best golfer and history may prove him to be the best golfer of all time. And all current golfers should be thankful of his presence and influence on the game of golf. Their salaries and prize money are as high as they are today as a result of him. People watching golf and it becoming so mainstream is a result of his influence.
So Ernie, don't be a whiney little bitch, and attacking Tiger's personal life and his character, because they have nothing to do with you, the sport you play, or your job. Who cares if he's going to have a press statement during the time that you should be playing golf and wouldn't be watching it anyways, not like people are really watching you play Ernie. And you want to talk about selfish? Weren't you one of the ones that called for Tiger to address the public and to answer questions? And now that he is, you complain it's not to your liking or your timetable? Give me a freaking break. I may not support what Tiger did, but I also don't support hypocritical people such as yourself. Selfish? I think you need to re-educate yourself as to what selfish means... or maybe they don't have such a good educational system in south africa. But it's selfish for you to ask for something that you have no right asking for (a public statement from someone else regarding someone's personal life that does not involve you) and not wanting that person to take away from whatever little attention that you get when he actually does give you what you have so expressively been asking for and then calling him selfish even though he actually gave you what you asked for.
To leave on a lighter note... this was a funny quote that I only 1/2 agree with...
"Tiger and Obama... a couple of arrogant black jerks on a grand scale.
Way to NOT do your race a service... You two have set blacks back 25 years!"
Tiger
Ive heard of the show, but know nothing about it. In regards to Tiger, of course he did it to spite Accenture, and good for him! No one cares about the matchplay event this weekend, even Phil isnt in the tournament. Then Finchem gives Tiger everything he wants in having his press conference at TPC. The tour needs Tiger and sadly now Tiger needs the tour so it will all work out. In regards to the snowstorm my only explanation to you is this:
Unlike DC, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland, Virginia is a Southern state, and doensn't have as many resources when it comes to snow removal, and is particularly ill-prepared to deal with the mess. While VDOT does nearly all snow removal in the state, Maryland's individual counties do their own snow removal in addition to the State Highway Administration.
This being said Va is pathetic and needed help because the federal govt was closed for a week, traffic getting into and out of DC is ridiculous and Maryland is just a better state period. The governor requests the state of emergency, Obama just granted it. Focus on other things to hate on him about not snow removal..

Rant(dom)
Heard of a new HBO show from the producers of Entourage... "How to make it in America"
Ernie Els... you should shut your mouth. No one really cares what you think about Tiger. Keep your opinions to yourself and maybe try winning, cause lord knows you haven't done that recently... and whenever you are in the position you... you choke... cause you suck. Go stroke the shaft and tickle the balls of some monkey in africa or something. And, you know what? Maybe it was perfect timing on Tiger's part... who was one of the first sponsors to drop Tiger? I believe it was Accenture... and low and behold, that's the sponsor of the golf tourny.... coincidence? maybe... Spite? I hope so...
Olympics... are they as boring to everyone else as they are to me? I have no to very little interest in watching them. They just aren't exciting. Yes, i know, I 'm suppose to have some type of national pride... but watching them does not raise any patriotic emotions within me. Maybe if the sports that were in the Olympics were more mainstream, with athletes that i know more about... but such is not the case... it's almost as boring as watching the Wizards for the rest of this season, now that their star player is Earl Boykins.
Why is Virginia declared a disaster area, but Maryland is not... Why does Virginia have the opportunity to leech federal money to help their state with the snow and Maryland doesn't... yet another reason for me to hate Obama.

Tennis
Quick Response.. I think we have already argued this before but yes at the current moment Federer is the best to ever play the game. Why? Because he will surpass Sampras' record of titles and he beats Sampras in winning the grand slam as Pete never won the French. That is why the argument is Agassi is in a different category than Sampras because Agassi has the grand slam, Pete doesnt. Sampras however does have the hotter wife.. so point set match to Pete.
Best Ever?
McEnroe said that Federer is the best men's player ever. That's a pretty bold statement... maybe his competition isn't as high as it was with the past greats... ever thought of that? Sampras was amazing.
On other news... I can't believe the Saints won.... did Peyton just give it away?

Damned if you do Damned if you dont
I didnt really watch the whole State of the Union, but I will say this. From what I hear and what I have read so far, Republicans hated it like usual and Democrats wanted him to be more liberal in a sense. I think Obama is a very well spoken speaker and he is smarter than the average joe, which is like 75% of the Republican party.. hehe.. but I think you have to let him just do his job. Its been a year and alot of the things he said were true in regards to we could have done better, but we are slowing stopping the bleeding. Number one priority is jobs and the economy and he said that. Health care will come through eventually but he didnt start with the health care debate until half way through the speech. The one thing I did like about his speech was that he called out alot of people and was like if you have a better idea than tell me. If not then shutup and stop trying to get political gain. Do what is right for the country, not is what is right for you to win next election. I think the speech in general was shifted to the independents and not for the right or the left. But he was smart because the republicans rebuttle didnt really have anything worth any substance because he didnt allow them to have it. Their biggest response was the Christmas day bombing in which he is trying the guy in civil court. Then they were like well I dont think he should be tried in a civil court... well thats just plain out stupid because under Bush's watch they tried the 9/11 bombers in civil court and called it the best judgement day for the American people. You cant have it both ways Republicans..
Keenan McCardell was never an above average WR, he was just average.. that being said its not like he wont do a good job, he just will do an average job, and if your WR are below average so hey, they might be better than you expect.
The Pro Bowl is stupid, a week before the Super Bowl, I have really nothing to say about either one since I wont be watching it. :)
Isnt the Ipad just a big Iphone? I dont get it.
Golf does need Tiger.. so Elin needs to leave Farve's ranch, either get a divorce or stick with Tiger and have him come back to winning. Odds on him winning Augusta?

Rich and Stupid
I just don't understand how rich people can be so stupid. They both deserve the punishment, I mean why the hell are they carrying around guns? They are fucking rich, and when you're rich, you pay the people around you to carry guns so you don't get your ass in trouble. That's the point of being rich, that you have enough money to pay people to do things for you that would normally get you in trouble... hence the point of having a entourage... no? The richer you are, the more you have to lose, the smarter you should be with how you handle yourself. Is that not common sense? I mean, I'm poor and I'm smart enough not to do stupid shit because I don't have the money to pay for legal fees, and even if I did, I'd avoid it, cause my legal costs would go through the roof... that's if I wanted to win. So to Arenas... you are a fuck up. Your few years of superstardom is over as well. Your knees are busted, so stop thinking you are this "Agent 0" who deserves to take game winning shots, cause you won't make them.
Thoughts on the Pro-bowl before the Superbowl?
Thoughts on the Ipad?
Thoughts on the Obama's State of the Union address?
Thoughts on what Lefty said about how golf need Tiger?
I'm not sure how I feel about Keenan McCardell as the Redskins WR coach... not that he's not accomplished... but is he really the best choice we have? I mean come on... he was a better than average WR in his time, but not a superstar and certainly not a legend who has tons of wisdom to impart on our young WR corps. He has 1 year as a intern coach with the Giants... is that really enough to warrant being hired as a WR coach in the NFL? SIGH

What you think?
So Arenas and Crittenton got suspended for the remainder of the season without pay. Adidas also pulled Arenas sponsorship.. what you think? This is what Stern had to say.
"The issue here is not about the legal ownership and possession of guns, either in one's home or elsewhere. It is about possession of guns in the NBA workplace, which will not be tolerated," Stern said. "I have met separately with Mr. Arenas and with Mr. Crittenton. Both have expressed remorse for their actions and an understanding of the seriousness of their transgressions. Both have volunteered to engage in community service in order to turn the lessons they have learned into an educational message for others. I accept fully the sincerity of their expressions of regret and intent to create something positive from this incident. "Nevertheless, there is no justification for their conduct. Accordingly, I am today converting Mr. Arenas' indefinite suspension without pay to a suspension without pay for the remainder of the 2009-10 season, and am also suspending Mr. Crittenton without pay, effective immediately, for the remainder of the 2009-10 season."

Baseball sucks anyways
You cant ban McGwire from being a hitting coach because he is a hitting coach. He admitted he was wrong, even though his reasoning was beyond stupidity. Saying he took steroids for health reasons to rebuild his muscles... right because they didnt help you at all from hitting 72 home runs. That doesnt really matter though because if you ban McGwire, then you have to ban every other person who took steroids no matter what. You cant set a precedent for every player in the MLB since 50% of them take steroids for one reason or another. What Selig should do is just put an asterisk in this era and not accept McGwire's home runs at all. Then leave it up to the people who vote to see if he gets into the hall of fame or not. Give back the home run title to the rightful owners (forget who it is) and then leave it at that. In regards to Pete Rose, yes he should be in the hall of fame and he should be allowed back into baseball. I think that will eventually happen.
The Vikings will pursue McNabb and let that play out even with Farve figuring out what he wants to do. Farve still is under contract dont forget and no matter what has to tell the Vikings something sooner rather than later. Zorn is an idiot and is no good of a coach. Gosh jolly o gee I hope I get a job someplace because I am a tool who has no balls. Just because what he did the "right thing" not saying anything bad about his boss or tenure at the Skins he is a stand up guy? Please, he's pathetic. Grow some balls and learn to be a real head coach. Hip Hip Hooray

A Sense of Justice... and Bitterness
In all honesty, I thought Zorn was going to go to Cleveland to reunite with Holmgren and to help out with the QB mess the Browns have. If the Ravens were smart, they would just hire Al Saunders, who has helped their offense a lot already as a "consultant." Besides, with the Ravens, they already have a system and personnel in place that is not conducive to Zorn's offensive philosophy of the west coast offense. Cleveland in the other hand, atleast has a QB that fits that mold, somewhat accurate, but has a bit of a weak arm. I wonder how Zorn feels about going from a head coach of a storied franchise to a QB coach, the position he held before. I mean, it's not even an OC job that he had originally wanted. We'll see. I must say this though, Zorn is a stand up guy and carried himself in a very respectful way throughout the whole situation, wronged or not.
Brett Favre... what else can I say other than, Childress should not give him free reign about deciding whether to come back, and by that I mean, there should be some type of deadline for his decision. Let's be honest, without a deadline, Favre is basically holding the franchise hostage... Cause what do you do about the QB situation? Yes, no matter whether he comes back or not, you can draft a QB and try to bring him along, but what about for the short term? Do you pursue other options, such as McNabb? Cause let's just say you do go after McNabb, and you get him, you won't get him for cheap. And then what happens if Favre decides to come back? Then you'll have 2 highly paid QBs who both are great players on your roster. Favre puts the Vikings in a very tough situation, one that is unclear, and hard to plan with. I say give Favre til a month or two after the draft, but the Vikes need an answer. Thoughts?
I was reading an article about the McGwire and Pete Rose, and I absolutely agree with the opinion that if McGwire is pardoned so should Pete Rose, or vice versa, if Pete Rose is banned from baseball, so should McGwire. They both compromised the game, and in my opinion, McGwire more so than Rose. McGwire cheated, plain and simple. There are no ifs, ands, or buts, rather there is concrete fact: McGwire took steroids which helped him break records, hit homeruns, and become a household name. Without them, could he have hit all those homeruns? If you are saying yes... then why the hell did he take them? Follow the logic, and the logic will lead you to the correct conclusion, McGwire cheated, and cheated in such a way that he disrespected previous record holders by using steroids to break the records. Do you let a child keep an A that they got on a test even though they admitted to cheating? No, you don't reward cheating, you punish it. So Bud Selig, how can you keep the ban on Rose, but yet let McGwire have a high position in a baseball franchise? Hypocritical? Or just retarded? Pete Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, McGwire doesn't, and yet, as it stands, McGwire has a better chance than Rose does... where is the justice?
P.S. Don't be bitter and hate sports just cause your Vikings lost...

Zorn
So the Ravens have apparently interviewed Al Saunders and Jim Zorn for their QB coach to teach Joe Flacco.. what do you think about that? Their old coach is going to Oakland.
Chuck-E-Cheese
It's for elementary school kids, so it's pretty much the perfect place, cause they have pizza and games. Actually though, last time they had one it was at Cici's.
As for McNabb, he is good, but in all honesty, I don't think he'll be leaving Philly. The coach loves him, not to mention, his back-up is good, but this is like the first time they have surrounded him with wrs and they probably want to give him another year to see how he does. If he does go to the Vikings, he will have a stud year. With all those weapons, he'll be so giddy. If it were up to him, and he was going to make the smart choice, he should go to the Vikes. And you guys kind of need him if Favre doesn't come back. People who you have on the roster are no good. I'm also thinking that you will draft a QB in the mid to late rounds of the draft.
Plug someone in for Pat Williams? I'm not so sure about that friend. He was the anchor of the D-line. Sure you can put someone there in his place cause you have to, but will he be effective? I don't think so. Pat is a force on the inside. He's one of very few DTs that get pressure inside and get sacks. Most DTs just take up space and try not to let the line move, where Pat moves the O-line backwards and into the QB's face.
And you guys won't officially be in a rebuilding mode until... well your defense or your o-line needs replacing. But hopefully, your GM and your coach will do a good job at gradually finding players to bring along and replace them without having a rebuilding year. Your team is damn young, especially your offensive weapons. Just look at the future and start picking O-line, DT, CB, and some LB depth.

McNabb
Pat Williams can retire, thats fine. He is old, and yes he is still good, but we will just plug in another guy. It is what it is, you already know its going to be a rebuilding year to a certain extent but Im still positive that they will come out on top. Its not like they are NOT going to make the playoffs.. please.. Ill put money on that right now. Bigger news.. McNabb to the Vikings.. hmm.. I mean I wouldnt mind it to be honest. He can throw the ball deep, and its not like he isnt good still. You as a Skins fan should know that cold heartedly.
The Metro sucks, but whats sad is that its still better than 90% of public transportation in the nation.
And why is the fundraiser always at Chuck-E-Cheese?

Losing Another Superstar?
So Pat Williams might not be coming back next year, how is that going to affect your team? I mean, he is the anchor on that defensive line my friend. Just wondering what your thoughts on that were.
Apparently, today, 2 metro employees died while conducting track maintenance. And I am not trying to disrespect these people in anyway whatsoever... but seriously?!?! How many times is this going to happen before people get a clue? I mean the metro is a government-run institution. You are telling me that they can't do track maintenance without getting someone killed? And why is it always the Red line? Sometimes things just astound me. I have no idea how things like this can continue to happen. If this were to happen in the private sector... people would be losing jobs and shitting thunderbolts.
Going to chuckycheese tonight for a fundraiser. Anyone interested?

MacGyver
What a great show.. might be the greatest of all time for the 80's, early 90's and yes I am super excited for it. A-Team should be good, especially w/ Rampage Jackson. I think I might just watch an episode of MacGyver right now.. hehe
MacGuyver (sp?)
I was just reminded that there is a movie coming out. No? I wonder, how excited are you to see it Vince? I'm excited to see the new A-Team movie that will be coming out.
As for the Saints offensive stats... well they didn't really move the ball when they had a long field to deal with, but because of some of the fumbles and pooched punt, and how the ball ended up getting knocked backwards by people, they just capitalized on having the short field when they did. So it's hard to use that stat to support anything. Turnovers killed you and lost the game for you, plain and simple. Now, whether or not Favre comes back, remains to be seen, but we can learn from history, there is no point in trying to speculate now or to even believe favre when he makes his first decision during the off-season. Just wait until a week before the season starts, and then start to think about it.
Jets, I was proud that they made it a game, especially since everyone said that they had no chance. I mean you are playing against Peyton Manning, who, if you give him enough time will dissect the defense and figure out what your game plan is and how to beat it. I think the Jets have a pretty good team, and will be a force for years to come. And Rex Ryan is a stud coach.
Had their Chances
No, the Vikings did dominate, and yes the only reason they lost was because of the fumbles. I dont understand how you can fumble that many times. The sad part was, from the 5 turnovers, the pathetic offensive line and no rush to Brees, the Vikings still were in it and had opportunities to win. That being said, we were the better team and dominated the game. The Saints should be thanking the heavens for the opportunity to be in the Super Bowl because sure as hell didnt play like it. I wanted to knock Brees out of the game but they didnt blitz enough. However I cant blame the defense because the Saints didnt even get 300 yards of offense and Brees didnt even throw for over 200 yards. So I blame it on the simple shit like turnovers. Pathetic... very pathetic..
The Jets had their chance, its just sad that they couldnt cover Garcon. Really he is not that good. 11 catches for like 160? Shouldnt have happened, and the Colts will destroy the Saints. I probably wont even watch the superbowl because I dont care for either team. I wanted the Jets, they had their chances, but Revis cant cover everybody. Sanchez played well and it wasnt his fault they lost. It goes to their defense, their bread and butter. Then again, they didnt score any points in the second half so I dont really know what to say. There were so bad calls in that game too, I think the NFL really needs to take a look and realize they are screwing up in big games. Sad part is, no one wants to see the Colts/Saints. If the Jets made it, you would have had the whole NY area viewing which is prime time money. If the Vikings made it, everyone would want to see Farve and his old ass self. Now you have a lucky team in (Saints) and a disappointing Colts team that took their starters out. Really have no intention of watching it.

A little bit of reality....
Ok, Vince, you might not want to hear this but I'm going to say it all anyways. The Vikings did dominate the game in a lot of aspects... however, the things that you mentioned were not the major factors that led to the Vikings' demise, rather it was the fumbling, the turnovers, and your line. I have almost never seen a pro team fumble that many times with that many players in 1 game, let alone a playoff game. Atleast not when there wasn't a reason for it, like snow or the like. Another thing I was a little disappointed in, was your offensive line. Yes, favre didn't get sacked much.. but he got hit... alot and hard. Not to mention that, even though he wasn't sacked, a lot of time he was hurried, had people in his face, had to dance around... etc. They just weren't able to protect and give him time. I also would have like to have seen the d-line impose their will more and make Brees uncomfortable, but their overall performance wasn't bad. We'll see about favre coming back, but I think that your best bet is to find a diamond in the draft in the middle rounds... or trade for a decent QB that you can use for 2-3 years that will actually throw the ball. Tavaris is not the answer, and you don't want to waste the talent that you know you have because Favre showed you how much better players can be with a QB that can throw. Shancoe is an elite TE in my opinion, so we'll see.
Don't be angry... haha.
What'd you think of the Jets game?

Tragic
I dont have any comments on this weekends games... None what so ever. The Vikings absolutely dominated the game in every category statistically. And if the Refs didnt blow that bullshit pass interference call on the 30, they would never have gotten the ball that close. Then you can argue about the 3rd down "holding" call. Fuck the NFL fuck the Saints. Yes I am bitter, and I only hope Farve comes back next year, goes 19-0 so everyone can bitch about that. Oh do I hope...
Championship Weekend
Man, I must say, this was a very exciting weekend of football. Tons of good football, and from some people's point of view... bad football. I will wait to let my colleague express his views and thoughts, but I just thought I'd start Monday off. Ughhhh Mondays... and for some reason it's warm and gross outside. Our world might be coming to an end, the weather is screwy...

Enforcer?
Crosby is a little puss. He's not an enforcer... he avoids contact and hates on people you play full contact hockey like Ovie does. It's funny cause in both countries.. hockey is like a religion... my vote still goes with the Russians, they were atleast once a nuclear power, and the canadians... well all they have are mounties and bacon... nuff said.
I was sad that Rex was let go from the Ravens, I always felt that he should've been the head coach. I understand that the organization wanted a more offensive minded coach to help them with their offensive woes... but, defense defines the Ravens team, and they should've stuck with the old school style of football that Rex would have used, like the one he does with the Jets: great defense and pounding the ball all day until you wear them down and start to break long runs. It's sad and a little ironic that he's getting the Jets to the AFC championship with that formula, which he could have done with the Ravens.
I don't know how much the tickets cost. It's $100 to reserve them, but I haven't looked into it further yet. What're your plans for the Vikings game this weekend? Hope we win the lottery...

Canadian sports
Top Canadian athletes since Crosby is a bitch...In no particular order
Wayne Gretzky
Mario Lemieux
Bobby Orr
Patrick Roy
Steve Nash
Barry Melrose (ESPN cus hes funny)
Gordie Howe
Man.. everyone here plays hockey.. Crosby will never live up to that and there will never be another Nash. On that note will Canada even do well in the winter olympics, I mean they have to its in their country right. :)
Oh and Ill add in Mike Weir just cus hes cool.

Ovechkin any day
Stats do go for Crosby, he is one year younger then Ovie, and he actually has 33 goals compared to Ovechkin's 32 goals this year. Thats more so because Crosby doesnt have many people around him and needs to be more of an enforcer. But if you look at point and plus/minus differential, Ovie destroys Crosby 8-1 in points. So a little bias here but I would rather have Ovechkin. Plus he is Russian, and Crosby is Canadian. Enough said. Whats up with the rain? This shit sucks...
How much are the tickets? See if you can get club level seats and when I win the lottery, aka tonight... we will get them.

NBA Sucks
I agree, I think the NBA sucks, but i've been saying that for a while now. Though I do find things amusing from time to time, like Iverson making the all-star game as a starter and the whole Arenas situation.
Now I pride myself in being a well-rounded sports fan, but I must admit i'm not as knowledgeable as I would like to be when it comes to the NHL. However, here is what I think based on my little knowledge. I think Ovie is better than Crosby. He's a more rounded player and a player that I would take to build a team around. Ovie isn't just a scorer or an assist man, he's also an enforcer. It's like the old school players, Brett Hull meets Gretzky. And I know that the stats that you just gave would support Crosby, but I believe that crosby also has a better team around him.. whereas Ovie is the caps team. Am I wrong? Please correct me if I am.
Sidenote:
I got an e-mail from the Redskins offering me season tickets... sigh if only I had money. Anyone want to buy season tickets under my name for next season and possibly a few seasons to come until I can afford to buy them myself?

Rex is a Don
In regards to the Vikings, yes everyone is hating on them and good.. keep on hating. I love the fact that they get absolutely no respect and when they do beat the Saints, Ill be blogging up in Miami. Their secondary is a little suspect though. Given up Sharper scares me, and they dont really have any shut down corners. Winfield is hurt, Sapp isnt any good and for me even mentioning him means we have no real threat. However it comes down to the front four and the linebackers. If the Williams wall can get pressure and Jared Allen can have a big game, the Saints will be one dimensional. Just play a QB cover or a soft Cover 2 and have Ray Edwards or Ben Leber dismantle the Saints passing attack. It will be a good game no matter what. Its going to come down to turnovers and if the intensity the Vikings have, the Saints can match. 27-23 Vikings
Rex Ryan is like the don of the mafia with the Jets. They are so young all they have to do is believe in his bullshit and they get fired up. He cries in their faces, he makes them believe the inevitable is possible. But good for them. They have came where no one thought they would and I do hope they beat the Colts. Just for the fact that the Colts ruined a perfect season because they think they are bigger than the NFL and the Jets will get destroyed by the Vikings if that was the matchup. However I do like Sexy Rex and hope he gets far.
"I heard someone say J-E-T-S, Mess Mess Mess, No I dont think so..." - Rex Ryan on going to the playoffs

Haterade
Almost everyone is hating on the Vikings for the NFC Championship. Really?!? I actually think that they are most of a complete team than the Saints. The Saints have an explosive offense, no doubt, but their defense is a little suspect and is not in the league of where the Vikings are. The Vikings have the ability to shutdown any offensive facet that a team might have. Teams can't run against them so they have to throw, which is what the Saints do... but the Vikings secondary is really good too, though winfield is worrying me a bit since he got owned in the last few games of the regular season. Regardless, I feel like the Saints are going to have to work much harder to win the game than the Vikings are.
On a side note... Rex Ryan sent the game ball to Marty Schottenhiemer (sp?).... I'm not sure how I feel about that. Yea he is the father of their offensive coordinator, and yea he was fired from the chargers... so is this just a move to rub it in the chargers' face? Cause if it is, then there really wasn't a point since they're already knocked out of the playoffs. Maybe Rex should direct that kind of stuff towards the colts. And maybe his own players deserve the game ball... like Revis or Green. What do you think?

Whose Better?
Well last night we had 2 great games going on with the best relatively in their sports. You had Lebron vs Kobe, which the Cavs won and then you had Crosby vs. Ovechkin. I really dont care to talk about the NBA because well its my damn blog and who cares for the NBA with the playoffs this weekend... but I do care about the Caps and how they over powered the Pens last night in Pittsburgh. So whose better? Crosby or Ovechkin? Or maybe I should say who would you rather have. Ill throw out some stats real quick first off. Crosby owns the head to head match up 11-5. He has 1 more stanley cup (winning it last year, beating the Caps in Washington in game 7 at DC in an embarrassing lost, however that game was more about goal tending then anything else)
Anyways... go ahead whose better.. and then Ill give my opinion..

Damn
Nick Cannon, you should've stuck with the teeny boppers. You just got played.
That being said, I'm pretty happy with the Redskins coaching staff... though I must say... 100ft screens in the endzone...? really snyder? REALLY?!

FAIL
Watch the clip of Nick Cannon trying to be a G but doesnt succeed. Just fast forward to like 2 minutes into the clip.. Basically Nick Cannon tries to go where Jay-Z is going but is left behind... What does this teach us? Well first off Nick is a tool and not only got played by Jay but by Eminem on his comeback to Mariah's Obsessed song.. If you havent heard it yet,
Em killed Mariah and then ruined Nick too... Guess they really arent your friends Nick.

I Concur....
Vince... you stole the title I was going to use. I prefer this clip to yours.
Keith Brooking is a hypocritical crybaby.
First of all, in his pregame ritual, he says something to the effect of, "When we get them down, what are we going to do? Stomp on their throats..." which makes it so ironic, that when the cowboys were down, the Vikings eliminated any chances that they might have had by "stomping on their throats."
Second of all, you can see through the clip that the way that Keith plays the game is classless, which once could also argue is a product of the environment/team. Cause we all know and have heard of how dirty the cowboys players are, like tripping and kicking players... ie. Justin Tuck.
And lastly, and also probably most damning, is that I recall in the prior week, that they ran up the score on the Eagles. So, apparently, Mr. Keith Brooking thinks that it's only classless when it's done to him and his team. What a joke. I agree with what Jimmy Johnson said following the game:
"That was an old fashioned ass-whipping. And if you want them to stop, then stop them. If you can't, why should the other team do anything for you? This is the PLAYOFFS."
Quick thought to Mr. Keith Brooking...
How is it classless to score a TD when you don't/can't defend it? So you stack 8-9 people in the box because there's less than 2 minutes left, they have 11x your score, and you think that they will run the ball to run out the clock? Isn't the mantra "You take what they give you?" If you don't want them to score then don't give them that opportunity.
Icing on the Cake...
For me it was watching the released kicker from the Redskins that the cowboys picked up, miss field goals. Not that those field goals would have made the game any closer... but it definitely made my smile a little bit bigger. The cowboys got CRUSHED and I loved it. To echo Vince... Go Vikings.

By the way I was looking back at some of our posts from 2008... I think I'm prophetic.

Brooking's a Bitch
Well, its been awhile but good topic to start off with. Lets first see what happened.
Now Brooking is upset because the game was already won and the touchdown the Vikings scored to him was classless and bullshit. But then why Mr. Brooking did your team happen to call 3 timeouts with 6 minutes left to play if you thought the game was already won? You had your chances, and you all blew it. You sucked from the beginning and you are more of a pussy now. Classless.. shit.. its classless how you played as a team in front of your fans and national tv. All the Vikings did was prove that they are legit and the Cowboys are nothing more then sore losers. Its the playoffs, grow up. There are no rules where you have to adhere to being "polite and considerate" Go play in some donkey league then. It fits you well. And on that note Go Vikings.

Hello, hello, hello! And here we are.... I'd like to revive this blog and bring it back to life and relevance by asking this question to my esteemed colleague....
What do you think of Mr. Keith Brooking of the Dallas Cowboys?!? I will offer my thoughts after his response.
