Aaaaaaaaand I'm back! Sorry about being MIA. I've been pretty busy getting a new job, and dealing with jealous-hating-back-stabbing-cock-sucking-bitches. And now that I'm back, there have been a few things on my mind that I've wanted to comment on and have not been able to, and it's been building up for quite some time...
For starters... Furry, i don't agree with your assessment of the AFC vs NFC. If you noticed, I said that the AFC had elite teams, very few average teams, and many easy-bullshit teams. With that laid out... let's redo your assessment and count quality/competitive teams. I am going to judge them off their quality of talent, past record, and any potential I can think of...
E=Elite
Q=Quality
S=Suspect
T=Trash
AFC vs NFC North
Steelers (Q) - This is a powerhouse franchise, that much I admit, however, their team has been raided since winning the Superbowl. Their wrs are getting old, they have suffered great losses regarding their o-line and their defense is on the decline. This team just makes it into the elite category... atleast until the start of next season... then I need to see proof that they still are who they say they are.
Ravens (T) - Don't get me wrong, I love this team. I love the way the defense plays, and i love the characters on the team. However, this offense is completely and utterly inept. McNair should stop playing and retire. He is too slow to make decisions, let alone try to move in or out of the pocket. The game has passed him by... he was a great QB and maybe might make the hall of fame some day (definitely not a first ballot inductee...) but every man should know when his best is just not enough anymore, and it's sad to say, let alone realize, but McNair, such is your situation. And it's not just the QB position that is aging or sucks... the offensive line and defense is getting old. You have 2 corners who were once the top CBs in the league, and even now, though they might have lost a 1/2 step, they are still one of the top 5 CB tandems if they are healthy. Their LB is solid only because you have a monster named Rayray on your team, which makes everyone around him play harder and better. I'm glad they kept Suggs, cause if they let him go after losing Adalius last year, they couldn't afford to lose Suggs also. This team is a team that has aging talent that can still play, but is not getting enough help and support from the younger players. This is a "rebuilding" team, even though it does have a chance to make a playoff run if they can pick up 1-2 quality guys in their positions of needs (QB and WR).
Bengals (T) - This team showed promise for a few years recently, however, shit has started to hit the fan... OchoCinco wants out, Rudi is not that great, the defense is soft, and players there cannot stay the fuck out of trouble. This team has the possibility of becoming our generation's Raiders...
Browns (S) - Had a great season last year... however, they need to show that it wasn't a fluke. This team is right on the cusp of becoming an elite team, as long as they can keep playing at the level that they have been.
vs.
Vikings (Q almost E) - This team has a TON of potential... all they need is a QB that can control the game. The only other major concern other than QB is a WR that the QB can throw to... even with the weakness at QB they still made a playoff run and are a dangerous team.
Bears (T) - This team HAD a chance to win the superbowl, and ever since, they have spiraled into crap. They got Archuleta... great call... Urlacher can't stay healthy, the offense is horrible, they have no QB, RB, or WR... This team is not going to get good any time soon...
Packers (Q borderline S) - The cheeseheads have lost one of the greatest players to wear the uniform. This team is tricky... and i say that because it definitely has a lot of talent on the team, however, it was the fact that they have Favre, that converted the talent into game ability. I'm interested in seeing how Aaron Rodgers will do, but he will never be able to, nor should he be expected to, fill Favre's shoes.
Lions (S) - Every year, I have high hopes for this team. They have drafted some of the best WRs... and yet... they still suck and can't score. Calvin Johnson... show me why you were drafted so high... Lions, show me that you can run the ball post-Barry-Sanders...
AFC (1) vs. NFC (2)
AFC East vs NFC East:
Patriots (E) - I am not a fan of this team... however I can't deny the ability and the skills, not to mention their records and achievements. Whether or not those things can be or are attributed to their cheating... who knows?!? (It is my opinion that the cheating is atleast partially responsible.) This is an elite team, with elite players... however, we'll see how they do this year... a team with no run game, a weaker WRing core than last year, and a loss of a huge presence in the defensive backfield will hurt some.
Bills (S) - The Bills have shown improvement, but not enough for people to take them seriously as a playoff team. They need to settle down in a QB, bring in another good WR to line up opposite Lee Evans, and their defense has to step back up. Lynch is the one bright spot they have right now...
Dophins (T) - I don't think this needs much explaining... they almost had NO WINS... and need help in every area.. EXCEPT for RB cause they have Ricky as a back up... holla for all the 4:20 heads out there. But yea... trash team... and oh, by the way, how the fuck do you get rid of zach "tackle-monster" thomas? Jackasses...
Jets (S) - This team has made some BRILLIANT moves in the off-season via free agency. But this team has had a pretty solid talent base in recent years, so just because they got some elite players does not mean it will translate to wins. Man-gina sucks... so until they show me something, this team is suspect... so is Coles... why did they give him a contract extension?
vs.
Giants (E) - Here is a hard team to categorize. Normally... I would say that this is a semi-quality team that has a lot of talent... However, since they did what no other team could do this season, beat the patriots, AND they won the Superbowl, I feel that by default they are an elite team... they are the Champs and there is no evidence or argument that you could make that would say otherwise. Since they've become Superbowl champs, their team has not gotten any better and they have lost or could lose central pieces and leadership... pray that strahan comes back (which i think he will cause he's still poor from the divorce and probably just wants to skip training camp.) The thing is... Eli has arrived... atleast for now... they have an overrated TE and their defense is going to be a shell of what it was last year if Osi holds out and Strahan retires... But Kudos for taking out the Pats.
Cowboys (Q) - In all honesty, this team should be an elite team. It has the leadership, talent, history, and pro-bowl caliber players at almost every position... why are they just a quality team you ask? CAUSE THEY ARE THE MOTHERFUCKING COWBOYS AND I FUCKING HATE THE COWBOYS. I can admit and appreciate their level of skill, but I refuse to call them an elite team... FUCK YOU COWBOYS!
Eagles (Q) - Here I gave the Eagles the benefit of the doubt. They've been getting worse the last few years, but they still have tons of talent, albeit no WR to speak of... but tons of talent. Westbrook, definitely underrated.. and now they have Asante in their DB core... it'll be a sick defense... and who knows? Maybe Takeo Spikes will step back into pro-bowl form this year... philly fans can only hope.
Redskins (Q) - This is my team right here. And I'm going to be as honest as I can be... First I want to take a moment of silence for Sean Taylor. He was a possible hall of famer and could have been the best DB the skins have had since Darrell Green, and he is my freaking hero. I believe the skins have a pretty solid core of players, a few being pretty young. I like Landry, Campbell, Portis, Cooley, and Rocky. I feel that these guys are the future of our franchise and for some, we haven't even scratched their potential. I'm watching Rogers and Washington, both have disappointed me, rogers... with just not living up to the hype and Washington has not been as dominant as he has been in the past and has been injured. I hope these guys can bounce back this year. Overrated players on the team include Springs, Jansen, and the Defensive line not including Carter. These are some glaring weaknesses, as well as not having a large receiver for Campbell...which is a huuuuge need. If you look at Campbell's missed passes, most of them are too high... for our 5'8 WRs... but one large WR from the draft could be the missing piece of the puzzle. I also hope that the new defensive coordinator can continue to shut teams down. I personally loved Gregg Williams, the only problem i had was he'd pick some horrible schemes and calls for certain situations... for example, I understand that you don't want to give the other team big plays, but playing a deep drop zone for dbs, you give them the chance to keep throwing under and gaining yards... I'm an aggressive play-caller, if you know it's 3rd and long, throw a blitz at them... not drop your crappy-covering LBs back to cover #4 or #5 receivers 10 yards past the line of scrimmage giving the receivers all the power to get open and yards..? So I sure hope that the new coach can keep pressure up, no matter what part of the game it is. A few more pieces and this team is ELITE.
AFC (1) vs. NFC (4)
AFC South vs NFC South
Colts (E) - This may be one of the easier teams to rate. This team has one of the best if not the best head coach in the league. They have a phenom QB and WR as well as a pass rusher and wicked good safety. This team is always in the playoff hunt, and almost always a favorite to win it all. Keep Dungy as long as possible, because he's the glue that holds that franchise together.
Jags (Q) - This team has really proven itself to me over the recent years. They have a stout defense, and a great running tandem. The QB position has been hard for them, playing 3 different QBs over the last 3 years. But now, they have a decent starting QB that will be able to make smart decisions, and possibly challenge the Colts... POSSIBLY...
Titans (S) - I think Vince Young is overrated... The titans are almost a good team... their defense is tough... usually, and their offensive does just enough to win... or lose the game. Their running game is not what it was when they had Travis Henry, which proves my argument that i had the other day, Vince Young only did decently well because of the affect that Travis Henry had.
Texans (S) - This is probably THE weakest team in this division. It's going to be a hard time climbing out of this basement as this division is only getting better... kinda like how the Cardinals are the ass end of the NFC west.
vs.
Tampa (Q) - I really don't know what to say about this team. Every year I write this team off, and every year it is either in the playoff hunt or it makes the playoffs. Garcia is a great QB. I know people will disagree, but you just have to look at his last 2-3 years and you can see how dependable and consistent he is. He doesn't make very many bad mistakes and controls each game well. I tip my hat off to the coach and his staff.
Saints (S) - This team is a greatly improved team from 2 years ago. Here's where they earn their grade though, they couldn't do it two years in a row, even though they had arguable a better team than they had when they made the playoff run. They have an elite QB in my opinion and have a very dangerous tandem at running back. Their defense has some holes, but they aren't a bad team, they just need a little bit more leadership and consistency and they could possible be the kings of this division for years to come.
Carolina (S) - WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED TO YOU?!?! This team was a hot team not to long ago. You still have a serviceable QB and you have an elite WR in Smith. People don't know this, but DeAngelo Williams is a good RB and I believe is going to have a break out year. he's been sharing the load with Foster... but DeAngelo can definitely be their work horse. The defense however has basically disappeared. Their defense, that was one feared is no more. You had such a sick front 4 and some amazing LBs... and now look what has happened, most of them are either gone or suck. This team really needs to step up this year, keep the QB protected and healthy and there's a good chance they could also make a run at the division title.
Atlanta (T) - I feel like this speaks for itself. Atlanta will probably be the joke of the league for a few years to come. Not only did they lose their QB who was basically all of their offensive production, but they also lost their lockdown CB... This team is in uber rebuilding mode.
AFC (2) vs. NFC (1)
NFC West vs. AFC West
Cardinals (S) - This team has all kinds of offensive talent, but their defense just hasn't been up to par. Now they have a decent defense, but have no RB. The WRs on this team are probably the best tandem and the QB should be at the very least, serviceable. But no matter how good this team looks, it struggles in a weak division, and never takes advantage of that fact. They need to get some heart and maybe they'll be a quality team, they are heading in the right direction though.
Seahawks (S) - Most people would not agree with my evaluation of this team, but let me say this... just cause you're the best of a group of scrubs, does that make you a quality team? No. This team year in and year out has one of the easiest fucking paths to the playoffs, cause they never play anyone good. And yea, I'm fucking bitter that these bitches have knocked my team out of the playoffs for a couple of years now, but the point is, that they get there so easily that rarely are their players tired or hurt. And until they show me that they can beat good teams over and over, I will not recognize a bullshit playoff team.
49ers (S) - I love the 49ers franchise. i had some pretty high expectations for this past year, but they disappointed. Even though they have some good players, they also have some old ones and ones that are subpar... I feel bad that they have Walt Harris on their team. People want to argue that he's a good CB but his stats are inflated... 50% of his ints were in 1 freaking game... that's not a good stat. This team needs to work on their defense and their o-line, but they definitely have the potential to atleast make a run for the division title.
Rams (S) - Also a team that has too many aging players at important positions. Steven Jackson is a great RB but still, the WRs are aging, the QB is starting to decline, and the o-line keeps getting hurt. The bright side is that their defense is young and at times plays very well. But they still need to replace some key positions, and until that time, won't really be able to do much.
vs.
Chargers (E) - This team is maybe the best team in the league. They have so much talent, and lots of young talent. The CB really stepped up and showed everyone that he was worth the high pick. This team just has to avoid injuries and avoid blowing their load early in the season and falling off when playoffs roll around. But definitely a Superbowl contender and perennial playoff team with this core.
Broncos (S) - What has happened to this franchise. It has had a very bad fall from where they were 3 years ago. They might not have been great, but they weren't in the bottom 25% of the league, as they are now. They need to get some younger players in the front 7 and be aggressive like they use to. To do this, upgrade your WRs and maybe get a new QB. Cutler isn't as good as advertised... why they fucked over Plummer like they did, I have no idea... They use to say that Elway couldn't win anything either... and yet he played there forever and it wasn't until he was almost dead that they finally won a superbowl... just saying...
Raiders (S) - This team is like a semi-savy pick for me. I think this team has a lot of talent, and if managed the correct way, could definitely make a run for the playoffs... if they somehow get there, they'll probably lose in the first round, but they have an outside shot. We'll see...
KC (T) - This team is also in rebuilding mode, they need to get Larry Johnson to start producing like he is suppose to. He hasn't been a disappointment, but seriously, they are way too old and need some more playmakers. Bowe had a great year for them... but they still need to upgrade their WR corp.
NFC (0) vs. AFC (1)

AFC (5)
NFC (7)
P.S. This was all done pre-draft.
