Pathetic?!? Are you joking me? Is this so called "pathetic" team of mine the team that just so happened to have beaten you (and the vikings) in a head to head AND edged you out of the playoffs? Ouch that must be rough being at the bottom of the food chain. And don't be too excited, as of now, you have no fullback to block for your precious Peterson. Now that we're done with the jabs... go after Brunell.. haha I'm kidding. Why not Leftwich? I do wish you good luck in looking for a QB. That is the one piece that the Vikings are missing, save maybe a TE. I know you love Kleinsasser, but let's get real, he's getting old and just not that great any more. Shiancoe has shown some promise... but he looks retarded... Other than that, the Vikes have no real weakness, but I still can't say that they are the team to beat. The Packers have a nasty young defense. Aaron Rodgers may not have experience but if their ground game can pick up where it was last year, then he may not have many opportunities to make mistakes. They should've gotten Moss for Favre.
As for my Skins, I do hope that we get a big receiver. Chad Johnson would be nice, but sadly, the Skins are the only team that have almost no cap space even at $116 mil. I'm looking at Limas Sweed in the draft, he looks promising and could fall to us. Maybe they'll even be able to find a diamond in the rough and pick up a useful DB in the 2nd round, but there are many needs as well as a few questions. How will Rocky be after the injury? How much does our aging DL have left in the tank. Can Washington stay healthy this year? Can Springs still be trusted to play man or will we have to bring the safety over the top? And they go on and on.. and on.. And now we have a new head coach and a new offensive coordinator. Just when Campbell gets use to Al Saunders' scheme, now he has a new one to learn... yay... But they say that Zorn is great with QB's. That's good to hear if he's your QB coach or offensive coordinator, but as a head coach? I'm not quite sure I'm that sold on Zorn. But I will say this, the tree that he comes from has churned out some decent head coaches around the league. I hope to be surprised...
Now on to Timmy... First of all, Timmy has done it for 10 years, Malone, did it for 20. Timmy's 22pts 12 rebounds for a career average is good, but not better than Malone's 25pts 11 rebounds career average, one could argue that they are comparable. But what you failed to mention is Malone's vs Timmy's
.742 FT% .683 FT%
.516 FG% .508 FG%
.274 3P% .194 3P%
Malone has also almost 4x as many steals, and 3x as many free throws attempted and made.
Even Barkley's 22pts 12 rebounds .735 FT% career averages are comparable and can bring him into the discussion.
But two of your main arguments still remain... Timmy won a title, Malone didn't, and Malone had Stockton. I really believe that if the Spurs played the Bulls during the MJ era during any of the years that they won the title, they would not have won. Plain and simple. MJ is the type of player that changed the whole atmosphere of the league because of his dominance. There is no doubt in my mind that had the Spurs in their dominance would lose to any of the Bulls championship teams, and there are a lot to choose from. Hell, you can even throw in any of the hall of fame Spurs players to the roster/bench and the '95-'96 Bulls would still win. Espn ranked the top championship teams and the Bulls have 4 teams that are ranked above the Spurs' highest ranked team. Don't tell me that the MJ era was not fair to other hall of fame players.
And so what if Malone had Stockton... Timmy had Michael Finley, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, and Bruce Bowen in 2007. All of which are either phenomenal role players or semi-superstars. Not to mention Robert Horry and his clutch shots and dirty tactics... yea that's right, he's dirty for the body check to Nash. He has the same group in 2005. In 2003 he has Robinson, Stephen Jackson and great vets like Malik Rose and Steve Kerr or even Speedy Claxton.
Timmy doesn't even hold any franchise records, where as all the Utah records are held by Stockton or Malone. All I'm saying is that Timmy is not the undisputed best.
Regardless of championship, Montana is the better QB. And it is a travesty that Barry Sanders was wasted on the Lions. He could have been remembered as one of the greats, like Sayers or Brown, but instead he'll only be remembered by our generation and will eventually become an obscure reference that only the hardcore or old will know or remember. So to Barry Sanders, I raise my glass...
